My favorite work at SAA was a looong work bench of a table, full of sculptures by Nicolas Micros. They showcased mastery in different scales, moods and materials, effortlessly and unpretentiously. He was born in 1960: quite out of the generational range I had expected here (also interesting.) Elsewhere, Ilaria Vinci's repertoire of funhouse props expands to include a life-size, isolated water well, roof, pulley, bucket and all (no water). There was something genuinely awesome about the craft and care in the object's construction and its multiple symbolic meanings, as it happens with Vinci's best work. >
