About the Art

Nicholas Micros approaches sculpture through a dialogue between material tradition and contemporary sensibility, working with materials including stone, clay, plaster and metal to explore the expressive and conceptual possibilities of form. His practice is shaped by an attentiveness to making, where intuition, craftsmanship and reflection are closely intertwined. Moving fluidly between representation and abstraction, his works often bring together personal associations, cultural references and art historical resonances through a language that is once playful, rigorous and open-ended. Ideas of duality and transformation and speculative perception recur throughout his practice, inviting multiple readings while emphasizing the sensuous and physical presence of sculptural matter. Through this approach, Micros reactivates classical materials and forms as spaces for imagination, ambiguity and contemporary relevance.
